As we approach the end of 2025, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to each of you who have been part of the Breaking Ranks Blog community this year.
Thank you.
Those two words seem almost inadequate for the support you’ve shown, but they come from a place of genuine appreciation. In a world overflowing with content, algorithms, and endless scrolling, you chose to spend your valuable time here—reading stories that matter, engaging in difficult conversations about mental health, and supporting independent voices that refuse to stay silent.
You Make This Work Possible
Every article you’ve read, every post you’ve shared on social media, and every moment you’ve spent engaging with this platform—it all matters more than you know. Independent writers and advocates like myself don’t have the backing of major media corporations or massive marketing budgets. We have something far more valuable: readers like you who believe that authentic stories and important conversations deserve a platform.
Your support has allowed me to continue sharing my experiences navigating mental health as a Black veteran. It has empowered me to challenge the stigmas that keep too many of our community members suffering in silence. Together, we have created a space where vulnerability is not weakness but courage.
Stories That Matter
This year, we’ve tackled tough topics together—from the intersection of military service and mental health to the unique barriers facing African Americans seeking care. We’ve also explored the systemic changes our communities desperately need. You’ve shown up for these conversations, even when they weren’t easy. You’ve shared your own stories, offered encouragement, and reminded me why this work is so essential.
That’s what keeps me writing. That’s what fuels Breaking Ranks Blog.
Looking Ahead
As we move into 2026, I’m excited about what’s coming. My book, Breaking Barriers: Mental Health In the African American Community, will be published soon. This book aims to bring these critical conversations to an even wider audience. But none of this would be possible without the foundation you’ve helped me build here.
This Holiday Season
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or simply take time to rest and reflect during these winter days, I hope you find moments of peace, joy, and connection. Take care of your mental health. Check on your loved ones. And know that your presence in this community has made a real difference.
The Power of Community
In our journey together, we have witnessed the strength of community. Each story shared, each voice raised, contributes to a collective narrative that challenges the status quo. It is this very tapestry of experiences that enriches our understanding of mental health and social justice.
When we come together, we amplify our voices. We create a chorus that cannot be ignored. This is the essence of Breaking Ranks Blog—a platform where every voice matters, and every story is valued.
Embracing Change
As we step into the new year, let us embrace the changes that lie ahead. Change is often uncomfortable, but it is also necessary. It is through discomfort that we grow. It is through growth that we can foster a more inclusive society.
Let us continue to challenge the narratives that have long held our communities back. Let us advocate for mental health resources that are accessible to all. Together, we can dismantle the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking help.
A Call to Action
As we reflect on the past year, I urge you to take action. Engage in conversations about mental health within your circles. Share your experiences and encourage others to do the same. By fostering open dialogue, we can break the silence surrounding mental health issues.
Remember, you are not alone. Your story matters. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health challenges, please reach out for help. There are resources available, and support is just a conversation away.
Conclusion
From my family to yours, thank you for believing in independent voices. Thank you for caring about stories that matter. Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support is invaluable, and together, we can continue to make a difference.
With gratitude and respect,
Breaking Ranks Blog
P.S. – As always, if you or someone you know is struggling with mental health challenges, please reach out for help. You are not alone, and your story matters.
